Products  : Limpet Sheets

General Description

These sheets are manufactured from carefully selected chrysotile fibre intimately bonded with suitable heat resisting binders and vulcunised under pressure into sheets of homogenious composition and uniform thickness. Limpet sheet is a material of very special characteristics - being the single insulation material that effectively replaces conventional insulation system economically.

Well adapted for rail coaches

This material is well adapted for interior linings, ceilings and paneling of railway coaches. Large size sheets - 3048 mm x 1524 mm (10ft x 5ft) minimize joints. Bends to 9" radius without steaming are possible. Smaller radii can be readily obtained after steaming or immersion in hot water. These sheets can be sawn, drilled or pinned. The weight per sheet in 2mm thickness is approx 19 Kg.

Outstanding characteristics

  • Insulating ! Excellent insulation properties, helps avoid condensation and corrosion in steel bodied coaches.

  • Tough ! Exceeding tough, hard wearing of high tensile strength and elasticity.

  • Stable ! Unaffected by moisture or heat does not warp, swell or split.

  • Weatherproof ! Unaffected by climatic changes.

  • Fire Resistant ! Inherently high flame-resistant materials, complies with low inflammability classification.

  • Chemical resistant ! Resistant to normal solvents, weak alkalies, weak acids etc.

  • Fewer coats ! Surface is ready for painting either by hand or spray. Requires less paint than any other compatible product.

  • Easily decorated ! Buff surface is specially prepared for painting with oil, cellulose, synthetic distemper, Non-absorbent face ensures economy.

  • Vermin Proof ! It is not affected by termite and does not encourage growth of mould or fungus

  • Non Drumming ! Does not reverberate as sheet metal.

Practical Applications

Its high heat resistance, good mechanical properties, low moisture absorption, together with its easy machining characteristics result in its wide usage for applications such as,
Home and office panelling and partitions
Exhibition stands
Theatre scenery - display work
Laboratory furnishing as bench tops and fume cupboard paneling.
Barrier panels where fire hazard has to be eliminated

Finish

Semi-matt / egg-shell surface. Finished in a variety of shades to suit customer requirement.

Decoration

Ready to use, does not require any preparation of rubbing or primary coat.

Workability

The material has easy machining characteristics. It can be cut and worked with carpenter's and joiner's normal tools and is easily drilled and fitted.

Any standard high speed steel or tungsten carbide tipped drill may be used, but use of slow speed drill with wide flutes is recommended.

The drill should not be forced and it should be cleared frequently and kept free from swarf.
